My Bee Bank

Since our first Covid lockdown in 2020, I have been watching a natural bee bank in Rushmere CP. When I first discovered it (on my way to my local Dragonfly nature reserve) I knew nothing about bees and wasps but it gave me some welcome distraction in those days of Covid. The interactions of the various species using the bank as a nesting site taught me aspects of these fascinating creatures’ lives of which I was completely unaware. Now I know a little but not very much compared to the experts at BWARS that I needed to rely upon for identification.

I wanted to keep a record of the different species that I encountered specifically on that bank. I have an album in Flickr but decided to create this dedicated page.

Meet my cast of characters, some of which are not bees or wwasps but which do interact with them. “Interaction” usually means parasitizsing or preying on them.
