1998 Mexico

In October we made a 2 week tour of the Yucatan peninsula. We were in a group of 12 shepherded by a Spanish-speaking Canadian leader called Troy. Our trip began and ended in the Cancun area (we got out just ahead of hurricane “Mitch”, fortunately) and had four distinct sections.

  • The highlands around San Cristobal;
  • A biological research station in the jungle near the Guatemalan border;
  • A tour of some ancient Mayan sites;
  • Relaxing on the beach and snorkelling at Playa del Carmen.

If you’re interested, this was a G.A.P. Adventures trip booked through Guerba Expeditions Ltd.
