For my mother's 90th birthday celebrations in February, we had arranged for one of Woburn Safari Park's VIP tours. We had a little difficulty getting her understandably less-than-nimble self into the long wheelbase Land Rover Defender but, courtesy of a large caravan step with which I had gone armed, we managed it. (Aside: Defenders may have been built not to get stuck but they are certainly neither spacious nor in any way comfortable.) The first half of February, 2008, was utterly stunning, weatherwise, and the excellent and unusual run of sun continued for our trip. Of course, the air was a little cool but we all enjoyed the experience.
Carol naturally used this as an opportunity to practice with her new digital camera and decided to shoot RAW images only for the first time. As I think you'll see from the images below, one great advantage of Woburn's VIP tour is that you are taken very close to the animals indeed. After having to learn new ways of processing and editing RAW images, here are some of her pictures from the escorted drive around the safari park.
