Andy Rouse Wildlife Photography
Andy Rouse is one of the UK's best wildlife photographers who consistently produces stunning images. We've been following Andy's work for many years.
Stephen Dalton Photography
Though a relatively new discovery for us, many years ago Stephen Dalton developed a whole new technique for taking ultra fast shots of wildlife. His shots freeze motion with such amazing clarity that you just have to see his results to believe it's possible.
Chris Brooks Photography
A gallery of superb dragonfly and damselfly images. I'll class Chris's site as mainly photographic since it goes to great length on photographic techniques and preferences which were interesting to compare to mine when stalking dragonflies. It does have a good deal of species information, too, though.
David Noton Photography
David Noton is one our favourite landscape photographers. Pretty much the complete antithesis of Stephen Dalton, David's trademarks seem to me to be ultra slow shots where moving water is involved combined with stunning panoramic (6x17) images taken on the wonderful Fuji GX617 camera (real film and way outside our price bracket).
Joe Cornish Galleries
One of Carol's particular favourites, Joe Cornish studied art at my alma mater: Reading University. Joe seems to be the National Trust's photographer of choice and is a true traditionalist. Not only does he still use real film but he uses it in a fabulous Ebony (45SU, I think) full format field camera. Very Ansell Adams!

Wildlife

Butterfly Conservation
Including moths - dedicated to stopping the decline of our most beautiful insects.
UK Butterflies
A comprehensive repository of information about Butterflies species of the British Isles including photo galleries.
UK Moths
An online guide to the moths of Great Britain and Ireland including photo galleries.
British Dragonfly Society
"The aim of the British Dragonfly Society is to promote and encourage the study and conservation of dragonflies and their natural habitats, especially in the United Kingdom."
Unfortunately, this aim didn't seem to extend to responding to emails to help with identification. (Hrumph!) A useful resource, though. For identification help, see the next entry.
iSpot
"your place to share nature"
iSpot is a place where like-minded people share observations of wildlife and nature. It is part of the OPAL partnership. I joined iSpot at the beginning of 2010 and it immediately proved indispensable with help identifying species. Excellent!
Andrew Makeham
"Home to Bedfordshire Odonata"
or dragonflies and damselflies, if you prefer. A photographic site or a wildflife site? Who cares, it's a very fine odonata home featuring many excellent images with lots of useful information centred on Bedforshire.
Greensand Trust
" ... an independent environmental charity that works with local communities and landowners to conserve and promote the distinctive landscape, wildlife and history of the Greensand Ridge and the wider surrounding area."
The Greensand Ridge passes the bottom of our back garden. Carol is part of their Wednesday volunteer group.
LBNature
"A website about nature and wildlife in and around Leighton Buzzard and Linslade."
Some interesting photographs by R. Morrisey around our local area.
David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
Off to Kenya for our most respected wildlife rescue program now run by the indefatigable Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick. This wonderful organization not only rescues orphaned elephants and rhinos but rehabilitates them for release back into the wild. Brilliant - we've been adopting for many years.
